In August 2024, Career Specialist Belinda Potter was contacted by Brooks Young, Workforce Development Director for TDLWD, with an opportunity to represent the state at the new Stanton Outreach Center inside the TCAT Stanton/Blue Oval site. She accepted the role and began splitting her time between the Stanton Outreach Center and the Dyersburg American Job Center (AJC).
Potter started at the new site on September 17, 2024, and quickly made an impact by meeting with a professor and three students in her first few days. “As we continue to network, collaborate, and create successful partnerships, I am honored and grateful to have been chosen for this exciting adventure,” she said. “The word ‘forge’ kept coming to my mind, so I googled it, and ‘What does ‘forge in life’ mean?’ popped up. It said, ‘Forging is consciously choosing to do good, to create beauty and abundance for the ones you care about, and to become a better person every day.’ I truly believe that we will be able to ‘forge in life’ here at this new facility and overcome any challenges that arise with our amazing team.”
Potter also emphasized the value of teamwork, saying, “TEAM = Together Everyone Achieves More,” and highlighted the strong collaboration among the staff. “We have an exceptional team here who goes above and beyond to serve others well.”
Since the AJC Outreach Center was co-located at TCAT Stanton, Belinda and the AJC team have participated in outreach events, helping students and community members access AJC services. The center has become an important resource for workforce development, thanks to the ongoing collaboration and dedication of the staff.
